Artist Statement
Using paint, sand, wax and oil sticks, Siovhon's work explores the inner world of myth, symbol and identity. She creates paintings that explore the paradox of emotion and detachment.
Her work is a universal expression of the human desire to create and gain an understanding of self and environment. Like all good art and poetry, these pictures transcend the boundaries of language. She shares her stories through her art. Her paintings take us on a journey that ask us to surrender to our own felt inner landscape.
Siovhon enjoys exploring color and texture and allowing each symbol to appear as it wills. A commitment to risk, play and personal exposure, are a trademark of her work. Influenced by psychology and Buddism, she has a deep respect for the human journey. How we transcend the limitations and paradoxes of body and time occupy her thoughts and travels, on canvas and off.
